Helping victims of earthquakes and tsunamis

How to help -

Thank you for helping victims of earthquakes and tsunamis through BEATS.

BEATS is a small charity, with no employees. Trustees work voluntarily. There are no ‘middle-men’ between BEATS and our Indonesian partners. This means that 100%* of the sponsorship money is transferred directly to our partners.

BEATS maintains a close and personal relationship between its supporters and projects, so that groups and individuals are able to choose to support people and projects to which they can relate.

Support BEATS as an Individual:

These photographs show Veterinary Nurse Helen Hitchings and Ucok, who she is sponsoring as he studies to become a nurse.

Other sponsors choose children who are the same age as their own, or teachers who educate children of that age, or teach particular subjects. BEATS will always strive to ensure that donations are used as requested, but reserve the right to allocate them elsewhere should circumstances dictate.

If you have no preferences, and are happy for BEATS to allocate your donations, you can be sure that your money will used effectively for the education and support of the children and their carers.

Support BEATS as a group:

The Little Fishes group at St John's Church, Southbourne sponsor a Kindergarten Teacher at YASAH School, and have also raised funds for a first aid kit and other useful items. The group leader, Susanna, is seen here alongside a board showing their support for BEATS

To raise money for BEATS set up a fund raising page at BTmyDonate

Ways to help

Give (a) regularly or (b) by one off donation

1. Sponsor a child, from £5 per month. Look at our Sponsor a Child page, choose a child and Contact Us

2. Sponsor a teacher at YASAH children's home (any monthly amount). By sponsoring a teacher at YASAH Children's Home you will be helping to give approximately 400 children a good education by qualified Christian teachers. YASAH's registered school, which specialises in teaching English in all subject areas, employs 30 teachers, educating children from Kindergarten to Senior High School (ages 3 to 18).  Contact Us

3. Sponsor a University Student. As in so many countries today, further education enables a young person to access a much wider range of opportunities for the future. This often enables them to provide financial support for their wider family and so the benefit of this education goes beyond the individual, supporting others and the communities in which they live. Contact Us

4. Give a donation/donations to our General Fund. This can be used to support staff in the children's homes, and also to fund purchases of equipment and other necessities. Contact Us

5. Pray. BEATS values prayer. Please Contact Us if you are willing to pray for our work and for our partners.

6. Leave a legacy to BEATS. Your gift can make a real difference to the future for many children. See our Legacies Page for more information.

*  BEATS' minimal expenses have so far been covered by the BEATS' Trustees.
